Lowering and Tire info

I dropped the rear end 2.25 inches that seemed to be the common drop I ran across in researching this project

First I got the rear wheel that I am using 17X4.5 1999 ZX11 rear wheel

Once the tire was in place and everything lines up I tack welded the swing arm/ sway bar into the frame to keep it from moving

This ZX11 Ninja wheel is a good fit , gives the advantage of using a phat tire with out relocating the chain or shimming the sprockets

I used the GS750 axle and combo of the Suzuki and or Ninja spacers , I will be using the complete rear braking system off of the ZX11

The chain had to be changed , GS 750 used a 630 chain OEM the XZ11 uses a 530 OEM chain , I used a front sprocket off of a Suzuki 750 Katana same as the GS 15 tooth but the Katana sprocket fits a 530 chain I found a ZX11 rear sprocket in a 41 tooth so I am keeping the same ratio as the GS had stock 15 front 41 rear ,

Metzler Marathon ME 880

Actual ME 880 Not my actual size (PICTURED)

The tires I am using are Metzler Marathon ME 880 series

This series gives me both the 19 inch tire "front" , and the 17 inch tire "rear" in the same tread pattern

The front tire is the OEM GS 750 size 100/90-19

The rear tire was a different story the GS came OEM with a 18 inch rim the ZX11 rim I will be using is a 17 inch rim.

I needed a wide tire for the 5 inch wide rim but  it also had to have a tall heavy sidewall to sustain the hardtail suspension the ME 880 offers this in the 160/70-17

The Metzler Marathon ME 880 offers this due to the fact the ME 880 series is made for the heavier cruiser type bikes it is also a longer life tire than a common sport tire and the price is right  at mc tires  the ME 880 front 100/90-19 is $85.00 the rear 160/70-17 is $115.00 CURRENT FREE S&H ON ORDERS OVER $100.00

**Update 10-27-2006**
On the front wheel and tire size mentioned , I had changed the whole front end around and currently trying to fit a GSXR1100 front end on this GS750 , if I can get the triple tree cut and fit like I want it to , I will be using the 2003 GSXR1100 front end , that will give me dual disc on the front , a 17X 3.5 alloy front rim to match the rear wheel , I am concidering going with a fat fat front tire to match the rear , thinking around a 140/80-17 for the front possibly a 150..

So much has changed..

I have pictures of the GSXR triple tree and the fork DIA. conpairing them to the O.E.M. GS750 ,, the GSXR forks are also 5 way adjustable , I think it would be perfect for the hard rigid rear suspension to have this heavy soft front end, would be a super upgrade from the GS750 .

Another good thing , in the pictures posted in the past of the bike you wil notice I got the front end to drop by lowering the forks 2" + to make the lenght of the forks 30", the GSXR forks are 31.5 inchs long few inchs shorter than GS forks , so there is no need for lowering the front end , these shorter GSXR forks do it ,, the 1.5 inch difference from my 30 inch mark will be made up in the front wheel size, give or take, If i have to lower the forks at the tree's half a inch drop is better than a noticable 3 inch drop..

Above is the GSXR vs. GS triple tree . clearly see the width difference and the Dia. of the forks below.
